Flag Banners Blooms & Wishes For You Card

This is a card I've made for friends to say thank you for my birthday gifts.  I wanted a bright and cheery little number made with the SU! Blooms and Wishes set.  I love the watercolour look these flower stamps have!

The flag banners were cut out from SU! 'Succulent Garden' DSP and I adhered them to the front of a Flirty Flamingo A6 sized card base.  I stamped the leaves in Old Olive ink - full strength and stamped off once.  I stamped the blooms in Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder inks - stamped off once.  I stamped the sentiment in full strength Early Espresso ink and stamped the flower centres in stamped off once Early Espresso ink.  I popped up the stitched circle and popped up the fussy cut blooms.

Here's the inside of the card and the envelope.  I popped up the sentiment oval on the inside and covered the envelope flap with watercolour striped paper from the 'Succulent Garden' DSP pack.

Butterfly Double Dutch Fold Card

I like creating a fancy fold card every now and then and when I came across a double dutch fold card on Pinterest I was determined to make one.  My friend Jan likes to try a new card type every now and then too so I'll be giving this card to her and will await her verdict with interest!

I made a Pool Party A6 sized card base first and cut 2" off the front panel.  Then I cut a 8 1/4" x 2" strip of Pool Party CS, scored it at 2 1/16" on both ends and glued it in place.  I cut my Island Indigo and patterned paper panels and adhered those in place before creating my butterfly.  I stamped the solid butterfly in Pool Party ink (stamped off once), stamped the wing edges in full strength Pool Party ink and stamped the pattern in Island Indigo ink (stamped off once).  After die cutting the butterfly wings I stamped the body in Soft Suede ink, die cut the stitched oval shape and stamped the antenna in Soft Suede ink.  I added some Island Indigo cotton ribbon to the top of the card, stamped the sentiment and popped up the oval.  I glued the butterfly body flat to the card but used Dimensional halves with the backing paper left on underneath the wings so they stay popped up.

Here's the inside of the card.

I just had to put a butterfly on the envelope flap!

Three Jars Of Hearts Love Card

It was my birthday recently and one of the gifts I received from Owen was the SU! 'Jar of Love' stamps and dies bundle.  Naturally, I couldn't wait to use my goodies and had to make Owen a thank you card!

I based my design on this fun card made by Nancy Amato that I saw on Pinterest.  I stayed faithful to Nancy's layout but used a black, white and red colour combo for my card and I embossed the white panel with the SU! 'Falling Petals' embossing folder - looks more like hearts to me than petals!  I stamped the hearts using Real Red ink and stamped full strength and stamped off once impressions.  I wanted to add some highlights to the hearts but I couldn't find a white gel pen in my craft room.  I think I got fed up with them not working and threw them away!  I found some watered down white acrylic paint and I used the end of an embossing stylus to add white dots to the hearts.  I popped up the jars and the black bow.

Here's the inside and the envelope.  Usually I place just a white panel on the inside of my coloured card bases but to make a change I matted and layered a white panel.  I liked how it turned out and happily, Owen loved his card!

April 2017 Card Group Projects

We got together yesterday afternoon for our April card group meeting and the ladies made three cards.  I also took along another sketch layout to add to their collection.

I came across this card on Pinterest and really liked the idea of using two dies from the Window Box die set to make a flower trough card.  I just had to make a faux wooden trough using the Hardwood stamp!  I placed a panel of Pink Pirouette CS behind the floral cut out, inked the edges of the white panel with Soft Suede ink, stamped the sentiment, added the burlap ribbon and attached the panel to the front of a Crumb Cake A6 sized card base.  I inked the edges of the trough and the butterfly with Soft Suede ink, popped up the trough, glued the butterfly and added rhinestone jewels to finish the front.

Here's the inside and the envelope.  I stamped the gorgeous flourish from the SU! 'Flourishing Phrases' set in Soft Suede ink and inked the edges of the white panel.

This is Card Group Layout #2 and I used this sketch for the second and third cards.
The layout is based on this lovely card I saw on Pinterest made by Tina Rappe.  I decided to CASE the card and I added a splash of sunny yellow (Daffodil Delight CS) to the crisp navy and white combo.   The card base is 7" x 5" so quite a large card.  I popped up the image panel and added three punched, shaped flowers with navy rhinestone gem centres.

Here's the inside and the envelope.  The verdict on this card was that it was very classy!

For card three I rotated the layout and made a landscape oriented card.  I used the oh, so lovely SU! 'Butterfly Basics' set for this card and some long neglected SU! speciality DSP.  I'd forgotten all about the 'Irresistibly Yours' DSP which was a 2015 Sale-A-Bration item.  When I came across it recently I thought it was high time I used it!

I applied Sweet Sugarplum ink to the panel using a sponge brayer, applying more ink in certain areas to get some shading, rubbed the panel with a piece of kitchen towel to remove the excess ink, matted it onto a layer of Rich Razzleberry CS and glued that to the front of an A6 sized Pear Pizzazz card base.  For the image panel I stamped the honeycomb image a few times in stamped off once Sahara Sand ink, stamped the fern twice in Pear Pizzazz ink without re-inking, stamped the postmark in Early Espresso ink and stamped the flower in Rich Razzleberry ink three times without re-inking.  I stamped the sentiment and butterfly in Rich Razzleberry ink and inked the edges of the panel with Sahara Sand ink.  I die cut the butterfly, glued the body flat to the panel and applied half a Dimensional with the backing paper left on under each so the butterfly remains popped up.

More collage stamping happened on the inside panel and the envelope.  I inked the edges of the panel before gluing it inside.  I think this was the favourite card on the day!

Avant Garden Thanks Card

The SU! 'Avant Garden' set was my final Sale-A-Bration choice.  The set didn't do a great deal for me until I saw lots of pretty 'Avant Garden' cards on Pinterest and now I've used it I realise what a lovely set it is!

The spring sunshine prompted me to go for fresh colours and I used Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach, Blushing Bride and Old Olive along with black and white.  As the stamps are photopolymer it was easy to see where I was stamping and so the card came together fairly quickly.  I attached a strip of narrow black ribbon to the stamped panel before adhering it to the black mat layer.  After gluing the mat layer to the front of the A6 sized Watermelon Wonder card base I added a strip of small rhinestone jewels to the ribbon to underline the sentiment.

More pretty floral stamping on the inside and the envelope.  A very happy card to make!

Butterfly Peekaboo Pullback Thank You Card

This is a thank you card I made for my friend Lesley using the SU! 'Watercolor Wings' stamp set that I had on loan from her.  As much as I love butterfly stamps this particular set in the catalogue didn't really appeal to me.  Lesley was sure that I'd fall in love with the set if only I tried it out for myself - and she was absolutely correct!  Thanks to Lesley kindly allowing me to try her stamp set the 'Watercolor Wings'  set has been added to my craft room stash.  Lesley knows me too well!

Here's the card and envelope together.

Pinterest provided this inspiration for my card, many thanks to Lyssa.  I watched this fab YouTube video from Wendy Klein to get an idea of how to make a peekaboo pullback.  I made a Pool Party A6 sized card base and I used paper from the 'Floral Boutique' pack for the peekaboo pullback section. I stamped the solid butterfly in Pool Party ink, the wing edges in stamped off once Night of Navy ink and the centre pattern and body in full strength Night of Navy ink.

I stamped the three butterfly wing stamps first, I die cut the butterfly shape after that and then I stamped the butterfly body.  This proved to be the winning sequence for me to get great alignment so I'll stick to this sequence!

After stamping the sentiment I folded the wings up, glued the butterfly body flat to the card and put Dimensionals under the wings with the backing paper left on so the wings stay popped up.  I added some rhinestone jewels to the wings to finiish the front.

Here's the inside of the card with a smaller butterfly from the 'Watercolor Wings' set.  Sorry for the poor photo - I had to snap in a hurry and had already given the card to Lesley when I realised this wasn't a good photo!

Out came my fab Envelope Punch Board and using a different patterned paper from the 'Floral Boutique' DSP pack I'd made a pretty envelope in a jiffy.  I added a strip of Night of Navy CS, popped up a Pool Party name label and added some bling.
